اردوشاعری سے دلچسپی رکھنےوالوں کےلئےفیض احمدفیض کانام کسی تعارف کامحتاج نہیں۔ ان کی شاعری نےاردوکےترقی پسند ادب پرگہرے اثرات مرتب کئے۔ دنیابھرمیں سماجی ظلم کےخلاف ان کی شاعری ایک تازیانہ ہے۔ لازوال نظموں کےخالق ہونےکےساتھ ساتھ وہ صنفِ غزل میں بھی طبع آزمائی کرتےرہے۔ اردو غزل کےموضوع پر1984ء میں ہندوستان میں تین روزہ غزل سیمینار منعقد ہوا۔ جس میں اہلِ فن نےاردوغزل کےمختلف پہلوؤں پرروشنی ڈالی اورمختلف شعراء کے فنِ غزل گوئی پراپنے مقالہ جات پیش کئے۔
اس سیمینار کےتمام مقالہ جات کو پروفیسرثریّاحسین نےاپنی کتاب “غزل۔ فن اور فنکار” میں جمع کیاہے۔ اسی میں فیض احمدفیض مرحوم کی غزل پر پروفیسرظہیراحمد صدیقی کا مقالہ بھی ہے، جس کا اقتباس اس ویڈیومیں پیش کیاجارہاہے، جس میں بتایاہے کہ فیض کی غزل قدیم اردوشعراء کی غزل سے کس طرح الگ تھی۔ فیض نےاپنی نظم کی طرح غزل میں بھی جدیدیت کی پیروی کی، اور ایک نیاراستہ اختیار کیا۔ جس کا مقصد محض حسن وعشق کےقصوں کوبیان کرنےکےبجائے انسان دوستی اورظلم کےخلاف بغاوت تھا
