دوسراگروہ کیوباکےتارکینِ وطن کاہے۔ ان دونوں گروہوں میں ایک عورت اوردومردہیں۔ کیوبن عورت ہوٹل روز میں ملازمہ ہے۔ جب اس کاشوہر اپنےدوست کی باتوں میں آکر قتل کی ایک واردات میں گرفتار ہوکرموت وحیات کی کشمکش میں مبتلاہسپتال میں پڑاتھا تواس کی محنت کش اوروفاشعار بیوی اسے قیدسے چھڑانےکےلئے اسی امیرجوڑے کواغواکرنےکامنصوبہ بناتی ہے جوہوٹل روزمیں ہنی مون منارہاہے۔
اس منصوبےمیں وہ اپنے ان دو ہم وطنوں کوبھی شریک کرتی ہے جن میں سےایک اس کےشوہرکی گرفتاری کاذمہ دارہے۔ وہ اس شخص سےشدید نفرت کرتی ہے، مگرچوںکہ کیوبن سرغنہ نےاسے اپنےپاس پناہ دے رکھی ہے،اس لئے مجبوراًخاموش ہے۔ یوں دومنصوبے اس کہانی میں متوازی چلتے ہیں۔ دونوں گروہ ایک دوسرے سےبےخبر،اپنےمنصوبوں پرعمل کرنےکےلئےایک ہی وقت مقررکرتے ہیں اور یہی وہ رات ہے،جس کا اشارہ اس ناول کےعنوان میں پوشیدہ ہے۔ اقبال پاریکھ صاحب نےیہ ترجمہ اس طرح کیاہے، گویا اردومیں ہی یہ ناول لکھاگیا۔ شروع سےآخر تک سنسنی برقرار رہتی ہے۔ بالکل آخری لمحات میں یکدم ایک انکشاف ہوتاہے اورناول ختم ہوجاتاہے۔ یہی اس کی اصل خوب صورتی ہے۔ آخر تک اندازہ نہیں ہوتا کہ کون سا گروہ کامیاب ہوگا اورکون ناکام؟ؕ
