اس کتاب کا آٹھواں باب آوازِ اردو نے اپنی ویڈیو میں پڑھ کر سنایا ہے، جس میں وہ بتاتے ہیں کہ بمبئی پہنچنے کے بعد وہ اپنے استاد حفیظ صاحب سے ملے۔ حفیظ صاحب علم و فن کے آدمی تھے اور موسیقی کی باریکیاں بخوبی جانتے تھے۔ وہ انہیں ریڈیو اسٹیشن بھی لے گئے جہاں اس وقت کے مشہور ڈائریکٹر سید ذوالفقار علی بخاری موجود تھے۔ بخاری صاحب اپنی تیز مزاجی اور سخت لہجے کے باعث مشہور تھے۔ انہوں نے حفیظ صاحب سے موسیقی کے چند نکات بڑے اعتماد کے ساتھ پوچھے، جیسے ان کا امتحان لینا چاہتے ہوں، مگر حفیظ صاحب نے ہر سوال کا نہایت متانت اور بصیرت سے ایسا شافی جواب دیا کہ بخاری صاحب کو ان کے علم و فہم کا اعتراف کرنا پڑا۔ یہ منظر مصنف کے لیے نہایت متاثر کن تھا کیونکہ اس سے یہ سبق ملا کہ اصل وقعت منصب یا عہدے کو نہیں بلکہ علم، مطالعے اور مسلسل ریاضت کو حاصل ہے۔
اسی محفل میں ان کی ملاقات دو نوجوان فنکاروں سے بھی ہوئی جن کی آنکھوں میں لگن اور فن کی بھوک صاف جھلکتی تھی۔ ان میں ایک اللہ رکھا تھے جو آگے چل کر عالمی شہرت یافتہ طبلہ نواز بنے، اور دوسرے حامد حسین، جنہوں نے سارنگی کی دنیا میں نمایاں مقام حاصل کیا۔ یہ ملاقات ان کی زندگی کا ایک یادگار لمحہ تھی، جسے انہوں نے اپنی کتاب سُر کی تلاش میں محفوظ کر دیا تاکہ آنے والی نسلیں جان سکیں کہ فن کی اصل بنیاد خلوص، لگن اور مستقل مزاجی ہے۔
